Our Impact in 2025
Crises happen. You can do everything right, plan for the worst and do your best, and still find yourself at the edge of disaster. Your car breaks down, you lose your job, a loved one falls ill or you become disabled - these are things that happen. Sometimes, they all happen at once, and you go from stable to uncertain overnight. Other times they build up, and you find yourself fighting every day to keep your head above water.
When you need help, we’re here for you. At JCEO, we’re not just about giving you a temporary solution, we’re about helping you get back on your feet so you can stay there. In 2025, that’s exactly what we did. We were there when you needed to find childcare, when you needed a ride to your medical appointments, when you needed help putting food on the table, and when you wanted to age in place in your own home. We helped make the holidays special for you and your children, and we made sure they had clothes for school while you had the proper boots for work. We kept your car running so you didn’t miss work, and we connected you with programs you didn’t know you were eligible for.
This help doesn’t just impact one person, or one household. It impacts the community. Businesses flourish when employees are healthy and have stable childcare and transportation. Healthcare costs go down when people can access care in a timely manner, before illnesses exacerbate. Children who receive early childhood education become school ready and experience long-term benefits that include increased education and workforce participation rates and reduced chances of adult poverty. Some of these impacts are immeasurable. There is a ripple effect - neighbors or friends who benefit from rides or shared food, local businesses that stay open because their employees aren’t missing work, and classrooms that stabilize when children receive the care they need.
In all, last year we helped 15,697 people. That’s 4,699 children, 7,473 adults, and 2,752 seniors*.
*773 unknown or not reported. Not included in this count are: 2,268 children who received holiday gifts through our partnerships with the Christmas Bureau, Christmas Magic, and Holiday Helpers; estimated 533 children who benefitted from the Summer Feeding Program; and the 1,527 individuals who receive food from the third-party pantries we supply food for.We couldn’t do it alone. Nothing we do would be possible without the hard work, support, and collaboration of our incredible staff, volunteers, community partners, local businesses, and legislators. THANK YOU for stepping up and helping us make the North Country a great place to live.
