Community Action is Powered by Volunteers

Did you know that April is Volunteer Appreciation Month?

We’re so grateful for the community members who help out in our food pantries, give rides for Medical Transportation, participate with Head Start, and keep things moving at our fundraisers. We’re planning something special this month to celebrate our amazing volunteers. Want to join? Sign up online here, or call our office at 518-561-6310.

JCEO Receives Generous Acts Grants from Adirondack Community Foundation!

We’re excited to share that we’ve received support for two projects from the Adirondack Community Foundation’s Generous Acts program.

The first project, which aims to prevent waste during food distribution, will allow us to purchase five large-capacity coolers for use in our unrefrigerated box trucks during food pickup and distribution trips. Our service area spans two counties (Clinton and Franklin) which cover over 2,700 square miles - and we have food pantries located in 14 municipalities. These coolers will help ensure that fruits and vegetables, meats, and frozen goods remain fresh and safe even after a long trip on a hot day.

The second project will help us work toward our goal of having an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) at every public-facing location and subsidizes training costs so we can offer CPR/AED certification classes to support workforce development and improved community health and safety outcomes. Stay tuned for classes!

Thank you to the entire team at the Adirondack Community Foundation for believing in JCEO and for being such a great partner to many critical organizations in the North Country!
