Garcia Named CEO

Bruce Garcia Named Chief Executive Officer of JCEO

Starting Monday January 5th the Joint Council for Economic Opportunity of Clinton and Franklin Counties (JCEO) will be under new leadership. After twelve years of service to Clinton County?s Community Action Agency and over thirty years in the field, Bruce Garcia will be taking the reins as CEO.

?JCEO is an excellent organization with a dedicated and experienced Board of Directors and a truly outstanding staff.?  Garcia said. ?I look forward to the opportunity to work with them and I believe that together we can expand and strengthen the services provided by JCEO.?

JCEO Board President, Steven Frederick, is pleased with the decision. "The search committee set out from the very beginning to not only find the most qualified candidate, but someone who would be a perfect fit with the top notch staff already in place at JCEO,? said Frederick. The committee conducted an extensive search process which in the end highlighted Garcia as the best fit. Frederick said, ?It became clearly evident that Bruce Garcia has the leadership skills necessary to guide JCEO through these tough economic times. We are confident in his ability to continue to provide JCEO?s much needed services to the community.?

Bruce Garcia joined the Management Team at JCEO in 1996 as Deputy Director after spending 18 years with the Committee for Economic Improvement in Essex County. In 2003 he met the requirements established by the Community Action Partnership in Washington D.C. for designation as a Certified Community Action Professional.  His commitment to JCEO?s mission and to helping those in need will guide the agency into an exciting future.

Bruce was preceded by Interim Executive Director Jacqueline Skiff who was at the helm during the search process and by Gordon Hazel who served as JCEO?s Executive Director for eighteen years.
