Hazel Passes JCEO Baton
Starting Monday October, 6th the Joint Council for Economic Opportunity of Clinton and Franklin Counties (JCEO) will be under new leadership. After eighteen years of service to Clinton County?s Community Action Agency, Executive Director Gordon Hazel will be handing over the baton.
?This is an exciting time for JCEO and I leave with mixed feelings,? Hazel said. ?It?s time for new leadership to take the wheel and I strongly believe that the best years for JCEO lie ahead.? Hazel came to JCEO from the private sector in 1990 after 22 years as an accountant for General Motors Corporation. ?Working in human services has given me more opportunities than I can count to make a difference in people?s lives. I?ve enjoyed every minute of it,? said Hazel. Under his leadership JCEO has fought to ameliorate the negative effects of poverty in the North Country. He said, ?Community Action will continue to help our most vulnerable children, families and seniors through these tough economic times,? said Hazel. ?JCEO?s success has never been about me. The mission is solid. The need is great, and I know the community will continue to support our cause in my absence.? After a year long battle with cancer, Hazel plans to continue the fight while spending more time with family and friends.
JCEO Board President, Steven Frederick, announced the position for Interim Executive Director will be filled by Jacqueline Skiff while the Board?s Executive Committee conducts a search for the new CEO. Skiff has lead JCEO?s Head Start program for nearly two decades and looks forward to manning the helm.
